Donation levels should support text/descriptions(Multi-step + Classic Form)#9

As an admin, I’d like to display a description of the donation amount for the level ($5, $10, $15, etc) instead of it only being available as a tooltip.

I’d like to have the option of using the tool tip OR adding the text directly to the button.

An interest example with a donation level slider: https://www.samaritans.org/donate-now/

Hi folks! Version 3.12.0 of GiveWP core now allows for descriptions in addition to donation levels for Visual Form Builder (VFB) forms only.

Before updating, I highly recommend taking a good backup of the site you can confidently restore from. Having a backup of your site is essential to a solid workflow, and will allow you to restore to a previous version of the site if you run into any issues. You can read more about our top recommendations for taking a backup here: https://givewp.com/backup-for-faster-troubleshooting/

Alex Coleman Great news. I’ve just tested it. I would strongly recommend to work on the layout. The only chance at the moment is to have a “lef-right” layout on desktop and a “top-bottom” on mobile. This is very limited in my humble opinion. Most of the (best) cases would need the amount description to be at the bottom of all the levels, enriched with an image or nicely formatted.

“I would like to have a contact form similar to the one on treesforall.nl. I want the form to display a tree in the price category, the price below it, and then the quantity of trees. You can see the exact layout in the attached image. I would appreciate it if you could provide a tutorial video on how to achieve this. My current website is mijnnatuurbos.nl. The default GiveWP form looks too basic and is not suitable for my donation page. Your assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated.”

Yes, please. Text next to the donation levels will be beneficial.

Yep, this seems to be a very common feature on other donation forms. Our dollar handles change amounts and descriptions to be relevant to the particular campaign we are running. We use quite specific amounts (e.g. $74 can help to….) which wouldn’t make any sense without context.

Request from a demo with Mark Chalklen (mark@itineris.co.uk) an agency working with many GiveWP customers.

rumitom via Priority SupportHi ya. first of all thanks for the plugin. The free version is already awesome, and I am after to get the pro purchased. the question i can’t seem to find an answer to in the documentations or here on the forum: in the single checkout form, there is an option to show the labels of the pre-defined donation amount, with the actual amount being revealed upon hover. How can the same layout be set in the multistep form? by default it’s the inverse. amount is shown and upon hover the label text. thanks a bunch for the top quality free plugin

Caleb Gittins via Priority SupportHi, is there any way to add a custom text field to each level of a multilevel donation in WP Admin? For example, I want to add another field below “Text” (see attached screenshot) to enter additional information. I’ve found a way to add hard-coded content to each item using “give_form_level_text”, but I would really like the user to be able to update that content via WordPress.

The suggestion of the client: We were hoping to use it to replicate the Patreon layout - https://www.patreon.com/IndigenousX (also attached). So in addition to the title and price, we could have another text field to give some more information to the user. I think this would be a really great feature to add, I can see a lot of people having a use for it. I haven’t found a workaround just yet. I may end up hard-coding the values temporarily using the “give_form_level_text” filter. I did also try adding some HTML into the Title field, but that was stripped out. I’ll let you know if I find a better solution.

What do you think about the upcoming Funds & Designations feature? I think that may be a more user-friendly. https://feedback.givewp.com/feature-requests/p/funds-designations

Abdullah: I don’t think that applies to this. Designation states what do you want to donate for in a preset array of options. The description of the donation amount usually states what we could do with your donation. E.g.: “What do you want to donate for?” “Cats, Dogs, Sheeps…” (DESIGNATION) If you choose Cats, with 20€ we can vaccine 2 cats, with 50€ we can sterilize all of them etc. (DESCRIPTION)
